MISSION

The Human Spirit Project (HSP) was born from a personal, cataclysmic prison experience by its founder, Jeff Royer. Early during his time in prison, a powerful book called Beyond Survival, written by former 7-year Vietnam POW, Navy Captain Gerald Coffee, landed in Jeff’s hands.

Jeff was so moved, even changed by the book, that it has inspired him to dedicated his time to giving back and helping other hurting people in their own dire circumstances.

The Human Spirit Project’s Mission is to introduce inspirational reading and media into (but not limited to) the federal, state, and local prison systems while also providing follow-up support through video and study material.

Phase 1 of the Program is focussed on distributing the book “Beyond Survival” into the prison system while working with prison system administrators and chaplain services to achieve measurable outcomes of positive change in those it strives to serve.

The HSP Roadmap includes similar programs for at-risk youth, disabled military veterans, and the disheartened who selflessly serve our nation, such as policemen and women.

Our mission is inspired by the power of Psalms 40:1-3  … I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
